Let's Go! Choose from guided or self-drive 4-wheel drive tours to this World Heritage listed spot. You can go whale watching (August through Sept) - watch the Humpback Whales as they return from the Antarctic. Hervey Bay has become so popular as a whale watching centre that the locals now celebrate the return of the Humpback with a Whale Festival which lasts two weeks and culminates in a colourful parade of illuminated floats. Angling (just a posh word for fishing, really) is a very popular pastime here and you can either fish from the jetty, beach or estuary. Those wanting the complete experience can venture out on one of the many local operators' tours to do some more serious fishing. Scenic Flights, Diving, Water Sports and Coral Viewing Trips are also available locally for those wanting the full Hervey Bay experience, although our list is by no means exhaustive!!!! |
